 The Rab Wilkinson Foundation is delighted to announce that the organizations’ prestigious Veteran Hero of the Year Award will be presented to Joe "Preach" Meizlik for his exceptional commitment and selfless service to homeless veterans and individuals in need. The award will be presented during the highly anticipated 2nd Annual Rock 'n Bowl for our Vets Event on Sunday, August 6, 2023, at Rab's Country Lanes.
This significant recognition follows the inaugural award, which was presented to Vito Giobbe, an exemplary veteran dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of others in Staten Island. Joe Meizlik's journey began as a homeless veteran, uncertain of where his next meal would come from. Determined to make a difference, he established a hot soup kitchen outside the Reformed Church of Prince Bay, located at 239 Seguine Avenue in Prince's Bay. For the past three years, Joe has tirelessly served homeless veterans and people in need, providing them with nourishment and hope. Reflecting on his compassionate efforts, Joe Meizlik, a 60-year-old resident of Prince's Bay, said, "I have been helping and feeding homeless veterans at the church on Thursdays and Sundays since last August. It's right down the block from where I live. I saw a need, and I wanted to start giving back. I've been hooked ever since." The Rab Wilkinson Foundation recognizes Joe Meizlik's unwavering dedication to the welfare of homeless veterans, inspiring others through his selflessness and demonstrating the profound impact one individual can make within a community.
